Health ministry confirms India’s first case of novel coronavirus infection in Kerala

India on Thursday reported its first case of novel coronavirus infection, with the Union health ministry confirming that a student who came back from to Kerala from China’s Wuhan tested positive for the infection. “One positive case of novel coronavirus patient, of a student studying in Wuhan University, has been reported in Kerala. The patient has tested positive for novel coronavirus and is in isolation in the hospital,” the health ministry said. The female student is stable and is being closely monitored, Kerala health officials said. State health minister KK Shailaja has called an emergency meeting at 3 pm.
